Funeral services were conducted Saturday in Mohawsk for Franklin H. Bailey, 29, of Marianna who died Wednesday, April 8, 1981, when his truck left a secondary road in McDowell County and came to rest in the Tug River.
The victim's body was found about 10 hours after the accident, about 70 yards downstream from the crash site, near Crowlitz. Volunteers from the Panther Rescue Squas, assisted by squads from Bluefield, Davy and Little Huff Creek, participated in the search.
Born Dec. 11, 1951, at Iaeger, he was a son of Kenneth Bailey and Macie Wyatt Bailey of Mohawk. He was a truck driver for Norman Bailey Trucking Company of Panther.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Deborah Rose Bailey of Marianna. They had been married less than three months ago, on Jan. 24.
Other survivors include a son, Harold Keith Bailey of Gilbert; six brothers, Norman, Kenneth, Tony, Joseph and Ricky Bailey, all of Mohawk, and Brett Bailey of Chicago, ILL; four sisters, Mrs. Cosmo (Wanda) Diantanno of New York, N. Y., Mrs. Wayne (Janet) Sanders of Chicago, ILL, Mrs. Ernie (Dorsie) McCoy of South Carolina, and Mrs. Randy (Dailas) Cline of Mohawk; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey of Mohawk.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the home of his father in Mohawk, and burial followed in the Bailey family cemetery in Mohawk.
