The proposed father of Anthony is Georgius Badsley in the IGI, with father Jacobi (James). There is no proof (eg baptism record) that i am aware of that states he is the father of Anthony
GEORGIUS BADSLEY Pedigree Male

Event(s):
Birth:
Christening:
21 DEC 1619 Beeley, Derby, England
Death:
Burial:

Parents:
Father: JACOBI BADSLEY Family

Messages:
Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record.
Thanks for this. I am unaware of any Anthonys apart from the founder of the American dynasty.
My side started in Canada with a Francis, born 1768 in London and died 1841 in Montreal, where he had gone to help his uncle James, and joined forces with Richard Dobie in the fur trade.
His parents were William and Jane Thompson, who moved from Beeley, Derbyshire, to London as linen merchants, before retiring back to Beeley.
William's parents were Francis and Mary Siddall, who had a number of children, including Jacobus (James) b1727, who may well be the uncle who died in Montreal after 1799. William married an Elizabeth after the death of Mary.
I am not sure how many greats uncle, I have geneology paperwork that Anthony Badgley and wife, Mary Gould, went to Canada(Sidney Township) approx. 1768. He had 6 sisters: Alizabeth, Hannah, Sarah, Phebe(Wilbur Earll), Ann, Abigail,
3 brother: John(Polly Dodge), Joseph(Lydia), Stephen(Joanna Mott). I would be fun to find the connection.

(())
Hollee Ann

Samuel Badgley married Hulda Force April 15, 1808

Samuel F. Badgley WILL May 30, 1815
Township of Caldwell, County of Essex, State of NJ

I do give & bequeath to my son John Force Badgeley four hundred and twenty-four dollars (to be paid to him at 21)
I do give & bequeath to my daughter Maria Jane Badgeley the remainder of my personal estate after payment of all just debts (to be paid to her at 18)..I do also order that sale be made of all my personal estate excepting one heifer, bed, bedding & bedstead and one trunk which are to be reserved for the use of my said daughter...
And I do hereby appoint Thomas P. Badgeley sole executor...Also I do appoint him to be the guardian of my two children until they are of age...
Witnessec by
Charity Badgley
James C. Fallowfield

According to Ancestry family profiles, Samuel F. Badgely did not have a sister named Charity. I assume that since the will doesn't mention a wife, Hulda has preceded him and he has not remarried. Samuel's mother's name was Charity, but she supposedly died before 1800.

Does anyone know who the Charity Badgley is who witnessed Samuel's will?

Does anyone know anything about Thomas P. Badgley?

Note: spelling of Badgeley/Badgley varies within the will.

Pat Hovell (a descendant of Hulda's father, John Force).

Badgley
Entomologist, Insect Photographer

Born September 8, 1922--Passed away June 4, 2006

Max Badgley Passed away at his home in Moreno Valley, CA., on June 4, 2006, surrounded by his wife, Paulette Davis, and his children, after a valiant struggle with stomach cancer. He is survived by 5 children--Linda Scott of Ione, California, Mark Badgley of Austin, Texas, Kim Jermain of Moreno Valley, California, Brian Badgley of Bakersfield, California, and Bruce Badgley of Austin, Texas--along with 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Max was born in Jackson, Michigan on Sept. 8, 1922. He became a Motor Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and met his first wife, Margaret Eakin, of Santa Paula, California, while in the service. His union with Margaret produced all of the children listed above. Margaret preceded Max in death, after 50 wonderful years of marriage.

When WWII ended, Max joined the staff at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). There he conducted research in entomology, focusing on biological control methods for integrated pest management. Besides producing a voluminous file of outstanding photographs of exotic insects, he served as Chief Quarantine Officer in the UCR Department of Entomology from 1969 until his retirement in the late 1980s. In that capacity he helped quarantine, document, and photograph insects imported from overseas for agricultural pest management.

To whom it may concern,

Hello my name is Paula Stark, my maternal grandmother is Veronica Mary Spafford-her mom and dad are Francis Marion Nuttall and Col. William Francis Badgley. Her maternal grandfather is (general) Sir James Mansfield Nuttall and I guess her grandmother was Emma Scott. Sir James' father I believe was George Nuttall and mother Marion Mansfield and her parents are James Mansfield and Marion Dalrymple-Horn-Elphinstone who live in Midmar Castle from the late 1700’s to early 1800’s. Originally I am from Long Island, NY but have lived in North Carolina for the past 4 years. My mother Mary Easter Spafford, is from Belleville, Ontario Canada where her mother (Veronica Mary-named above) and father (Gerald Spafford) settled after leaving England.
Currently we are trying to put together the family tree and I stumbled on this posting when researching online, so hopefully you'll get this and we'll be able to share information.

Best regards,
Paula Stark

July 22, 1893 Page 1
Ruined and Dead.
Lillian Saulter, of Mackinac Island, the Victim of a Brutal Soldier.

Lillian Saulter committed suicide at Mackinac Island Tuesday. She left a letter stating she had been forcibly ruined by a private soldier named Wm. Badgley. The verdict of the coroner's jury was as folllows: "Suicide by poison, indirectly caused by one William Badgley, who as the evidence seemed to disclose, had committed a criminal assault upon her, the disgrace of which caused the said Lillian Saulter to take her own life." Badgley was given an examination before Justice Preston Thursday and was bound over. The penalty for criminal assault, with which he is charged is from fifteen years to life imprisonment.

I am not related to this family, just passing on this information which comes from a website called "Sault Ste.
My 3rd Great Grandfather, Daniel Clark, was married to Eve Borer by Rev. David Badgley in Virginia. He and his family and wife went to New Design, IL with Rev. Badgley, left there for KY and finally settled in Ohio. Information would suggest that my Clarks may have moved from New York to Virginia with the Badgleys and a Clark may have married into the Badgley Family sometime before 1760.

Ed Clark, St Helens, Oregon

Hi Jackie, Sorry I'm slow in answering, was gone a few days. I have a Francis A. "Frank" Badgley b. 1843 in Illinois; son of David S. and Amy Abbot Badgley. David S. was son of Aaron and Cathrine Straud Badgley; Aaron was son of the Reverand David Badgley. Rev. David was my 5th great grandfather and my line goes through his son David, Jr. If you are related to this Frank A. Badgley, we are indeed "cousins". I have another listing for a Frank Albert Badgley, d. Oct. 1928, son of Albert N. but no other information about him or his father. Found these names in information on Michigan. This sounds like your line; but I have a feeling it's not part of mine. If your line goes all the way back to New Jersey, there may be a connection - Rev. David's parents were Anthony and Ruth Osborne and Anthony was son of John Anthony and Euphemia Radley of NJ . Gloria
Mr. Pemberton went by the name "Herman" and had the nickname of "Bosco". He did own a small store in Galatia, Illinois.

Mary Badgley

I found a reasearcher that believed that Mary Badgley married John Macklin (they lived in Iowa and Illinois). This Mary Badgley was born in 1847 in Ohio. I have found a record that shows a Mary Badgley living in Washington Co, Ohio in 1850 with Louisana (presumed to be her mother), James W. (presumed to be her father), Isaac (presumed grandfather), and Louis (presumed brother). Mary and John Macklin names their first son James W. so this is consistent. Questions: 1)Does anyone have a records that shows that Mary Badgley daughter of Louisana and James is in fact the same Mary as John Macklin's wife? 2) I believe Mary's mother may be Louisana Johnson. I have seen family trees that show it as Loucianna Mattser. Does anyone have a record that would confirm it either way? Thanks.

Hi! I was excited to read this although is it old. Your Dad was wrong about Lemuel Badgley. His first wife was Dora, but the children he was thinking of were by Eliza Poe. There wwas an older son, Luther James, who was born out of wedlock. Then came the twins after they were married, followed by my mother Ruth. Vernie Pemberton was my mother's half sister and I rmemeber visiting them as a child. They had a little store. Last summer. I went to Johnston City and drove down all the streets until I found the house! The store was gone, but the house was for sale and the gentleman gave me a tour. It was very exciting! He said they had found the store sign "Pemberton's", but another relative had been by a month earlier and gotten it. Was it you? Please write!
