Hi Chris
My grandfather was Richard George Badcock, born 2nd Feb 1895. His first wife was Anne Pratt, and they had a son, my father, Roy Eric Badcock. Roy was born on 24/8/1930 and died 1/9/1986. He had two daughters, Gillian Louise (that's me) and Sally Ann.

I have found references to Badcock's Wharf which suggest the family was important?

I'm the husband of Glenys, my Aunt was Richard George Badcock's second wife. Richard known as Dick. When he was young he had a trial for Middlesex Cricket Club.Later
he became a Bus Conductor for London General Omnibus Company which became part of London Transport. His bus was hit by a bomb during WW2 and he was the sole survivor. He was also a keen Tottenham Hotspur fan. Dick was born on 2 Feb 1895 at 35 Lansdowne Road, Hackney. He died 20 April 1974 at St Columb's Hospital, Hampstead, London.

I am trying to find some information on Elizabeth BADCOCK born circa 1715, England. I believe she may have been born somewhere around Topsham, Devon, England. She married John Norton (born 1706) and they had a son, Nicholas, born 1740.
My mother is a Norton, and this is the only information I have on her (Badcock), and am trying to discover her parents details etc.

My mother was Louisa Jane Badcock, daughter of Charles and Jane Badcock. Charles was a son of Edwin and Elizabeth. Richard would have been my Grandfather's brother. So we are distant relations, not sure what. I do have Richard and Martha as having three children Walter Edwin, Richard and Lilian Martha. How far back have you gone?

Can anyone assist please. GGMx4 was Sarah Badcock who married John Acton, a lighterman/pilot at Deptford Royal Dockyard at St Pauls Deptford in 1765 and died in 1782 having borne several children to John.

Keen to have knowledge of Sarah's siblings and parents. If anyone has any knowledge would be most grateful.

There used to be a chap in South Africa, one Michel Metford-Platt, who is a Badcock of Bampton descendant, but he seems to have vanished into thin air. My last couple of e-mails to him a year or more back went unanswered.

I'm not actually sure which Badcocks I am looking for but I hope this information helps.

I am looking for the Badcock line that migrated to the USA.

My surname is Bobcombe but was changed from Badcock.
My gggrandfather was Coffee Badcock & I believe he is the
one who did the name change. After this name change he
migrated to Trinidad in the West Indies.

Are any bells going off for anyone?

I dont mind sharing, but I dont know if I can be of much help I have come to a standstill after Thomas Badcock of Bampton Devon born 1776, I think his parents were a Thomas and may Jane or Jean (not sure) I know he had a brother James but not much after that, I dont know who he married and I know his son John was my gggrandfather but after that nothing, I have a bit of info to sift through.

I just found some of my old documents that I sent for from the archives in England.

There are quite a few mentions of the Badcocks in Bampton. There is a pedigree of the Bampton Badcocks and some of the information goes back to the 1200's and 1300's on some of the Badcocks.

I don't know if it has what you are looking for but has very interesting information on the Badcocks in England.

Tom,Thanks for the quick reply, Thomas Badcock b 12 March 1776 and baptised 25 december 1781 father Thomas and Mother Jane is the Thomas I am after, I was wondering if the last 15 Thomas Badcocks are one of the same. I know he had a brother named James but I have nothing on him at all.
Thomas had a son John but I don not know who Thomas was married to, I am not even sure where he died.

Did you ever get Thomas sorted out? I have plenty of references to Thomas Badcock from 1654-1832, but nothing to tie him in with John or Martha. I take it you have tried the record office at Taunton, Somerset? I also have plenty of references to John from the 1500-odds, but no Martha.

Mary Beeton was of Westborough when Jason and Mary were married in Shrewsbury in 1749. I have been unable to find a birth record for this Mary Beeton. She may have been a sister to John Beeton of Westborough, who was prob. born in Ireland, and who named his first daughter Mary, b. Westborough in 1749.

HI: My great grandmother was Amelia Jane Badcock from Bay Roberts in Newfoundland. She married Abner Snow from Shearstown NEwfoundland. I have not been able to find out who her parents were. If you have any information I would appreciate it . Thank you Terry Sharpe
