In April I did a week-long genealogy trip, starting in Wyandot Co., OH, then to Hancock Co., then to Lithopolis in Fairfield Co. I was able to gather a lot of information about the Bacher/Baugher/Bachar family who originally bought land in Faifield Co., and laid out the town of Centerville, which later changed names to Lithopolis.
In the Wagnalls Library in Lithopolis and the Lancaster library in Hancock Co., OH, there are files on the Baughers. I also visited courthouses and cemeteries in all three counties. My mother's maiden name is Bacher (JacobC,/Johannes or John/Jacob B./Dennis/Everett), and she was very excited about all the information we found.
One of my most exciting finds were the estate papers listing the heirs of Lydia Baugher - the unmarried daughter of Jacob C. Baugher (wife was Maria Barbara Kistler), who with his wife and children moved from Lehigh or Hampton Co., PA to Fairfield Co. about 1813 (possibly earlier). When Lydia Baugher died in 1872, her parents and all of her siblings were already dead. She names as her heirs all of the living children and grandchildren of four brothers and one sister. Hopefully this will help some of you as much as it has for me. I've got more information on most of the heirs mentioned, so feel free to contact me if you're interested in more. Since I am descended from Jacob's son, John, that is the line I have the most information about.
