I am looking for information on John W. Babcock. In the Willet, Cortland County, New York Census for 1850, there is a John Babcock age 23, a blacksmith, living with Avery and Abba Babcock. In the 1855 Census for Willet, Cortland, County, New York, John is living with wife, Margetta (Marietta?) age 22 and son Adorfus (Adolophus?) 3 months.

I am looking for any information on Avery and Abba Babcock.

I found information on Marietta Pierce Babcock and their children, Adolphus, Mary, and Elmer Ellsworth. I am descended from Elmer. My father remembers him saying that he was going to drive his Model T to heaven!

John enlisted in December of 1861 and was discharged with a disability (asthma) in December of 1862. He seems to have spent most of his time in hospitals.

He died September 8, 1863 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. One record shows that he is buried in Texas, Michigan. I can't find his grave.

I would appreciate any information!
