Who are the Ohio Baads??! I'm from a Baad family that ended up in Western Michigan sometime in the middle or late 19th century. I wonder whether we are all related ... any idea? My grandfather was Frances Baad. He once researched our family history and found that some of our ancestors had come to the U.S. from Germany, and to Germany from Norway, I believe. If you're interested in finding out whether there's any connection here, I can ask my father for some family names prior to my grandfather's generation. Thanks.

Ingrid, My grandmother was Augusta Baad who married John Olinger. Her father was Adam Baad who was married to MAry Sunkel. Her fathers father was Friedrich Baad who came to America from Germany. I do not know from what part of Germany they came as of now.
We could be related as there were a number of Baads that lived/died in New Bedford,Ohio Coshocton,Holmes counties and also Tucarawas county. My side died out as the two boys never married, but I am in contact with a number of the daughters offspring.
I can give you some e-mail contacts on Baads.
I have some BAAD pictures scanned that I can also E-mail.
Please contact!

Thanks for responding. I will ask my father whether he recognizes any of the names you sent me. I had always assumed that I was related to all Baads in the US, since the name is so uncommon. I was suprised to see so many Baads on this website whom I had never heard of! My grandfather's generation (Frances, Wayne, Dale, etc.) is pretty much gone. They lived in Colon, MI, for most of their lives. My dad (David) has two brothers (Mike and Jim); I have a brother and a sister and seven cousins; in turn, my siblings and cousins have some young Baads of their own. We are all over the US these days (DC, CA, Washington State, MI, MA, etc.). Thanks again, and I'll keep investigating on my end ...

Ingrid,
Saw your postings on the Baad board. Yes, your Colon, MI BAAD's are from those in Ohio. Your GGGrandfather George Baad came from Bolivar, Ohio and settled on Blossom Rd. Colon, MI - where John Elma Baad live. I visited with them for a couple hours last Sept.
My connection with the Baad's began on Nov 15, 1899 in Colon, MI when Orten Baad and Alta Fulton were married. They are the parents of John Baad.
There is a Baad-Helwick Reunion this year in Zoir, Ohio on Sept 23. If you plan to go please contact Margaret Book Davis by Sept 16, 2000. These people are very nice and very knowledgeable about the family. If you can attend - contact Kurt Helwick he has research the family for many years.

You can contact Margaret at Idavis16@neo.rr.com

Classification: Query
I saw your message regarding George Baad from Tuscarawas Co. and believe I have 2 of his daughters marrying distant ancestors. Wondered if you had any additional info on them. I have that Marie Baad married Albert Ellsworth Kline (son of Daniel Kline and Anna Elizabeth Stair, born 8/31/1861), and that they had twins, Leroy and Bernice. I have another sister, Lottie Baad, as marrying John William Grant Kline (son of Daniel and Anna, born 6/4/1865), with 3 children a result of this marriage -- Lester, Madge and Ralph. Any names sound familiar in your research?
