CHRISNEY
(by Mrs. David I. Day)
Mrs. Velvia BUNNER, Mrs. Pearl AYER and Mrs. Mary JOHNSON and little daughter left Sunday for Indianapolis where Mrs. BUNNER and Mrs. AYER represented the local Rebekah lodge at the meeting of the Grand Assembly.
Mr. and Mrs. D. J. SMITH observed their 49th wedding anniversary and “Uncle Jack’s” 87th birthday on last Thursday having as their guests their cousin I.E. AYER, of Rockport; their daughter, Mrs. Erius HOPKINS and Mrs. Gilbert LINK, Mrs. Chas. MAIN and Mrs. Pete KEY, all of Huntingburg. “Uncle Jack” says his eyesight has failed and his hearing is not so good but he still enjoys the weekly arrival of The Democrat. He is the last surviving Civil War veteran of the town, the last surviving charter member of the local I.O.O.F. lodge; the last surviving member of the David MILNER G.A.R. post, and the oldest member of the Chrisney M.E. church which he still faithfully attends.
