Among my grandmother's photos and letters were photos of "W.C. Ayer", as well as telegrams he sent to her from St. Louis in 1927 and 1928, when my father and aunt were born. I believe they were either friends (or boyfriend/girlfriend), or that he took her under his wing when she was essentially orphaned in 1911 (her father committed suicide in St. Louis and her mother "disappeared" from her childrens' lives.
My grandmother's name was Ethel Beans, and she lived in St. Louis from 1905 to about 1926. She married my grandfather, Ralph Witten, in St. Louis, and they moved to San Fernando, CA.
I would love to know more about who Mr. Ayer was, and what his relationship was to Ethel Beans. I did find an obituary for a W.C. Ayer who owned the St. Louis Button Company, but I do not know that they are the same person. Any information would be appreciated.
