My Father was born in Guayubin Montecristi then moved to Villa Vasque at early age went his father died, he was Aybar Medrano his brothers and sisters moved to Santo Domingo ciudad trujillo at the time and Santiago, they were all in the Military and pro Trujillo. They lived long lives; my father died a couple years ago and the last one of his Brothers died at the age of 102 I was told by some Family members that still live in Santiago and Santo Domingo.

My Aybar family is from Bonao. My great grandmother told me that we were one of the first settlers in Bonao and owned most of the land which Leonel is currently trying to buy. My family built the first school there named after the Aybar family. The family migrated from Lebanon, an Arab Country in the Middle East and had royalty blood. You can tell by the Arab features my family has. They migrated to Dominican Republic because of Muslim persecution because my family were Christian Arabs. As far as I know the Aybars intermarried with other Dominicans and Haitians that lived there and thats how Aybars are now spread throughout the country.

The Aybar last name is from Turkey. Turkey has the highest percentage of Aybar in the world. You are correct in that some Aybars migrated to Dominican Republic. however, the origin of Aybar is from Khaybar near Medina. They migrated to Turkey when they were kicked out. They were Jews from the tribes of Dan and Manasseh. Just thought you'd want to know. Most Aybars from urkey do not know they are descendants of Jews.

Hello everyone,
I know this thread is old but I'm curious to know if Ayvar is also of Turkish/Palestine origins. My grandfather's maiden name is Ayvar and he was born in Guerrero, Mexico.
