I hope to be able to help out with the limited knowledge I have through what my father, Adolph, shared with me as I was growing up.
The family originally came from the Northeastern part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which is now part of Russia. The oldest sons (David, George, Abraham Zillel, and Sam)
settled in Salt Lake City Utah. My guess would be that around 1902 Moses and Hattie brought the rest of their eleven children to Salt Lake City. In Europe, Moses was a cabinet maker, and his sons, most likely, were also involved in that business, because when they arrived in Salt Lake they opened a furniture store. There were two other branches of the Axelrad family in Europe. One in France, and one in England. Both were furriers.
My father, Adolph, upon finishing college at the University of Utah, went to New York to study at Columbia University Law School. He met Dorothy Gordon (born and raised in NYC), married her, and stayed on in New York to practice law. One issue from that union was Phyllis Beth Axelrad, who married Louis Storch from NYC. There were five children from this union: Roberta Lawrence, David Storch, Nancy Daniels, Suzanne Raper, and Michael John Storch (deceased).
In the Axelrad family there were four girls, but no Charlotte. The girls' names were Rose, Regina, Lottie, and Zelda.
George did move to NYC some years later after he married Mae(last name, unknown). In around the '60's they moved to Jackson, Tennesee.
Those siblings who stayed in Salt Lake were Sam and Rose.
David, Regina, Lottie, Zelda, and Nate moved to the LA area with Joseph moving to San Francisco. My Uncle AZ moved out to California after he retired, quite a bit after the others moved.
Grandchildren of Moses and Hattie:
David - one daughter; Mildred
George - two daughters; Pearl and Janice
Abraham Zillel - three childred; Robert, Bernard, Diane
Rose - two children; Irene and Richard
Regina - two children; Barbara and Melvin
Lottie - two daughters; Dorothy and Gertrude
Joseph - one son, Michael
Adolph - one daughter, Phyllis
Zelda - one son, Wesley
Nathan - two children; Kenneth and Donna
Sam - no issue
I hope to be able to gather a little more information which I will post at a later date.
