Trying to trace William Axe who was in the Civil War, regiment K of the Pa. Heavy Artillary 152. Enrolled June 1863 and discharged Sept. 22,1865 at Fort Monroe, Va on disability.

He was married to a woman named Sadie?? Not sure about this but was told they left Lancaster County Pa and went to Montana?

These are on my mothers side of the family and trying to get all of them together now.

Any info or help greatly appreciated!

The only thing I have found out about William Axe is that on his enlistment papers for the Civil War he was listed as living in Lancaster. He married a woman by the name of Sadie. I thought they had left Lancaster County buy heard that it was not them who left but their daughter. They had the one child they named IdaK or Ida Kathryn and she is the one who left Lancaster County and went to Montana with her husband John Warner. She had 4 children, two of them were born in Montana, Sybil and William Warner and then she came back to Lancaster County. She left her husband(John Warner) and went to work for a family by the name of Pechin. It is said that she lived as a common law wife to Lorenzo Pechin, the wealthy Pechins at that time were very powerful both with political influence as well as the monetary. She had two children with Lorenzo Pechin, one girl named Mary Emily Pechin(my grandmother) and a boy named after the father, Lorenzo Pechin and this is where it all ends. I know from here on but was trying to find out more about the early William Axe my great great great grandfather and grandmother Sadie. Where did they come from. They came from Europe but don't know if it was Germany or Switzerland.Their religion perhaps Presbytarian or Menonite. It would have been in the 1700's the town of Gap,Christiana or Whitehorse in Lancaster County. Settled in 1704 pr 1710. This is the information I am looking for.

Do you know anything that would help me to find out where they came from? It had to be the

William Axe, husband of Elizabeth, died
in Reading, Berks County. Elizabeth was given
a small amount of welfare for a couple of
months until she moved her family to another
county.

My William was born 8 Jan 1833 in Lebanon, PA. He married Sarah Ellen Logan, 13 Oct 1856 in Muskingham Co., Ohio, and settled in Auglaize County,Ohio.

Do you have him in your file. If so, I have much to share with you.

Im looking for information on William Axe of Lancaster County PA. I think his birth year to be around 1823.
He is the Father of George Fredrick Axe B. 1/14/1859
George's Mother was Elizabeth Speice or Spiece handwriting is unclear on death cert. She was born about1826.
They appeared to live in the Salisbury / Whitehorse area of Lancaster Co. William was last listed in the 1900 census living with George and Sallie Troop in Salisbury and listed as a Father in Law.

I know of a William Axe who was injured during the civil war. He has relatives living in York Pa.. If it is the same Axe his finger or fingers were shot off. He was the brother to my Great Grandfather. His parents would be Peter Axe and Mary Leah Smith. This where I am stuck. I hope I helped you.
