MIchelle,

Talked to Betsy today. William M. Axe served in the Civil War....he was shot in the foot in Petersburg, VA. He was my great-great grandfather.

I don't know. I can try to find out. I am sorry I can't remember which William Axe you are refering to. If you could be kind enough to remind me. We'll just call it brain fade.

I don't believe he was shot in the foot. I thought it was his hand. You really need to talk to Gary Axe since you share the same Great Grandfather. Gary has documented information about Williams wound during the Civil War. His phone number is 717-848-9791. He said let it ring 5 times, he picks up after the fifth ring. He can be a better help to you. He also has pictures of William. He is also interested in pictures you might have. I am sorry he does not have email but if you could send a picture file to me I will see that Gary gets it. Michele

You are most kind and I will get off my duff and get the paperwork again, been so long since I looked at it and kind of just gave up because of no real leads but I most certainly will get back with you and appreciate your reply.

I have a couple of William Axes in my family.
My line of Axes:

William Axe Marries Elizabeth Spiece, March 6, 1845 at South Hermitage in Salisbury Twp, Lancaster County, PA Died December 9, 1903.

His Son, William "Willy" Axe of The Gap, Lancaster Co, fought in the Civil War with the 93rd PA Volunteers, which formed at Reading I think.

Willy Axe married Sarah Diem also from The Gap
Their daughter Ester Elizabeth "Lizzy" Axe is my Great Grandmother

Our family records show that Willy Axe is buried in the Pequea Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Salisbury Twp.

Hope that is some help ...

Greetings
My line is from George F Axe, William's Brother. George's daughter Mollie or Mary depending on what document it is, was my Grandmother They are all buried in the Peque EC Church in Strasburg.
I was wondering if you have any information on Elizabeth Spiece ? We haven't been able to run her down.
You may want to drop an email to David Axe at
axaxe@comcast.net he has done a lot of research into the family. We would like to share information with you.
You can contact me direct at rdecker2@tampabay.rr.com
Thanks

In relationship to your earlier email about William and his Son, William. Since we all share the same GG Grandfather, I believe we may be able to share some information.
I have a cousin in the Axe line and we have been working on this together. Please drop me an email at:
