This Axam family were former slaves who lived on a plantation of called Tarverville in Georgia. There were at least 9 children, one of the parents suspected to have native american blood. These are the known names of:Ida, George, Ellis, Henry, Dorthy(darcus, Willie, Della, Jenny(ginny, Moely. Ida or George was the eldest child and we believe the birth dates to be in the late 1860 or later. This Ida had several children with the white plantation Dr. Wimberly many of her children were name after her sisters and brothers. We had not found the name Axam anywhere in the United States, except for here. If any of this seems to relate to your family please E-mail me with your information. We also that that it could have been the mispelling of another name. Many of these sibling moved to New Jersey, Ohio and Pennslvania. I belong to the branch that is in New Jersey.
We want to find out the orgin of the name Axam.
