Hi Janice,
I didn't know that's how Aunt Nina got her name but she is the ninth child. Interesting!! Some of the family is still there but many have moved to the lower 48. Both Nina and Eleanor have died. Nina was in her mid 50's and Eleanor died just a few years ago. I have been in touch with some cousins on FB. If you want to friend into this group you can start with me. Peggy Hall-Davenport. Spiro George (Nina's son has recently moved to Oregon and his wife wrote an award winning Greek Cookbook). I think his sisters, Brenda and Sherry are still in the Anchorage area but aren't on FB. Eleanor's son, Mike (FB) is living in Hawaii or is there at least part of the year. Danny and Linda - I'm not sure where they live. Nina Gale the youngest is living in MO and is on FB.
My mother was Gladys. Brighton is at the intersection of I96 and US23 about 30 miles south of Flint. I have 6 living brothers and sisters. My brother Tim who started this change of messages, died in '06 of colon cancer. I took up the mantle, so to speak, to get genetic information about who in the family may have died from related cancers, especially since he was so young, only 50 when he died. My grandfather, Bennie died of prostate cancer, Gustav died of prostate cancer and Emmnuel also died from cancer of the stomach. Nina had a fast growing intestinal cancer and Thelma, Eleanor, Geraldine and Raymond all died of cancer. Norman had cancer but died of either a stroke or heartattack. Richard is battling cancer at this time. Wow, this is getting depressing.
Anyway, what started as a quest for information has developed into an interest in people's lives, not just how they died.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Perhaps we can meet at some point. I know next to nothing about Grandpa's brothers and sisters. Aunt Clara and Uncle Henry used to visit but I don't remember meeting anyone else.
I love ancestry for all the great cousins I've met!
