I am a descendant of the five Averett brothers who married five Byrd sisters in Dale County, Alabama. During their courtships, my grandparents and their siblings lived on what is now part of the Ft. Rucker, Alabama military post. I was surprised when I did not recognize any of the names at this site as "relatives I've known or met." Though I've lived in Alabama all of my life, I really just learned that there were Averetts in Perry County.
