That's my last name too! my dad said it comes from Spain but they edit it from Abalos a place i think in Spain. To what is now known as Avalos and from Avalos to Avila and so forth. IT came to Mexico when the Spaniards came to mexico... My grandfather's last name was Avalos Avalos two times and is mixed Indio and español = mexicano! he's from Morelia Michoacan Mexico... i think there's lots of Avalos there.. finily the last name i think means tree bark from an oak tree!

Hi there mate I am Michael Ray Avalos I have been trying to trace the Avalos name for years The name originates in Spain the Horo in Soria province near Basque area of Spain. First Census by the Romans in 300 BC made notes of people in the village of that they named Abalos may or may have been misspelt, or that was the way it is spelt there are many spelling of the name Abalos, Avallos, Ayala, Avila etc I just think that there were different dialects in Spain left over centuries of different conquests so I hope that helps I am still trying to piece together how and when , where ^ brothers ended up as I have found that when they came with the conquistadors there were 6 brothers , then after their cousins came they went as far into Mexico,Peru,Paraguay, Colombia, Honduras, Cuba etc there are a lot of Avalos. Hope to hear from you
