Andre Aube married Genevieve Fradet at St. Vallier in 1715 and research seems to indicate that he was a captive from the Schenectady/Albany area. His parents may have been Hendrik Obey and Aeltje Claes of Dutch origin. Anyone out there have any further information? Please respond here or by e-mail. Thanks.

Hello,
I am a descendant of Andre. In my records I named his generation 03 and mine 10. That's how far back we are related. He was adopted by Guillaume Lemieux and Olivier Morel. He is buried at Isle D'Orleans, Quebec, Canada.
He died 30 Jan 1753. Would look forward to hearing from you.

Clare, thank you for your message. We may be talking about the same man. The Andre Aube I am looking for has the death date you gave and was married Jan 7, 1715 to Genevieve Fradet ct. Michon at St. Vallier. It seems that his name was changed to Aube from Obee and that the family came from Holland. It is believed that his parents were Hendrick Obee and Aeltje/Keltie Claes.
Many French Huguenots went to Holland before coming here for their religious freedom and from the records of the Dutch Reformed Church in New York I found a record of this couple and have it on Dutch authority that the name Obee is definitely of French origin albeit through Holland to this country. But I am still waiting for a book on the Indian/French captives from New England and upstate New York from a New Hampshire genealogist who has made this a particular area of study and who is familiar with this particular case. Anymore info you have would be appreciated. e-mail address is mloliver@prodigy.net

To Betty Ann Taylor Aube:
I have no information beyond the familial data concerning Andre and his adoptive family in Canada and his descendants, of which I am one. I have what I think are the names of his real parents, but have not been able to definitively connect him to them. Sorry to not be of more help. M. Oliver

To Jamie Aube;
Sorry to say, I have not any more information on Andre's real parentage, only on his adoptive parents and his descendants. He is the one captive from the New York area who has not been able to be traced, but I keep looking. Would be happy to share anything I could find. M. Oliver

Surnames: Aube - Hadley - Laviollette - Boudreau - Hachey
I am a descendant of an Andre Aube from Corlear, New France (Schenecthady, NY) that was captured by the Indians in 1698 at the age of 14. Andre received French Citezenship in 1710. He had 13 children and died in Jan 1753.
It is believed he was brought to Quebec by the Indians. Andre had a son Augustin who emigrated to New Brunswick, Canada where my lineage of Aubes come from. Augustin married Sara Boudreau in 1819, and gave birth to 7 daughters, and 8 sons. Augustin's and Sara's son Joseph Aube is my direct descendant. Joseph Aube m Christine Laviolette, and gave birth to my great grandfather Edward Aube in 1864. Edward Aube M Alma Hadley and gave birth to my Grandmother Lydia Aube. Lydia Aube M Omer Hachey and gave birth to my Mom Anne Marie Hachey(Donahue).

Hello Jamie,
Thanks for your reply. My family is descended from Andre through his son, Boniface, who married Marie Madeleine Blais. And I have been looking for several years for information on Andre's parents. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
