Emery Atwood was born around 1846 in Indiana, served with the 12th Michigan Infantry in the Civil War-he was awarded a pension for his war wounds. Between 1879 and 1882, he married Mary Raymond Hammond (also called Libbie), a widow with six children. They had two children: Bernice, born around 1883 and Paul, born around 1887. Mary disappears before 1900 and Emery died in Los Angeles in 1939.
Paul was married and an actor when he registered for the draft in 1917. In 1930, he was living in the injured soldiers' home in Malibu, CA;, his wife at that time was named Noreen; he died in 1940.
My last record of Bernice is the census of 1900, when she was living in El Paso, TX. She may have moved to California with her family around 1902.
