My maternal great grandmother Eliza Ashby married my great grandfather Charles Bridener/Bridner in December of 1864. I am trying to find my great grandmother's lineage. I believe she is the daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Billmire/Bellmore and Martin Ashby who died about 1853 but am having difficulty proving or disproving it. Both my great grandparents and Eliza's mother Elizabeth are buried in Gary Memorial Church cemetery in Howard County Maryland. Elizabeth Ashby's tombstone is marked with: wife of Martin Ashby; she was born December 8, 1820 and died December 22, 1895. Eliza Ashby Bridner's tombstone reads wife of Charles Bridner born March 19, 1850 and died July 10, 1888. I have located my great grandmother Eliza and great grandfather Charles in each of the 1860. 1870 and 1880 census for Jefferson County West Virginia in the area of Bolivar/Harper's Ferry.
