Today in an antique shop I came across the Family Bible of Aaron Ashbrook, son of Felix. The Bible is in bad condition, but it does contain 3 double-columned pages of family records (these pages are also in poor condition--they have some tears, but they appear to be fully legible). The dates start from the late 1700s and go to about 1870. It is noted in the bible that it was purchased in 1821 (?) in Cynthiana, Kentucky.
The dealer also had 2 photo albums that appeared to be associated with the family that this Bible belonged to. One was a small album of about 15 tintypes that were identified. The family name in this album wasn't Ashbrook (and I failed to note the name), so it must have been the family of one of the daughters. The other album contained more photos, but they weren't identified--nonetheless, they were from Kentucky, some of them from Richmond. Both albums appeared to be from about the 1860s through 1880s.
The dealer wanted fairly high prices for all of these items, more than I thought warranted by the condition they were in. Nonetheless, if they'd been photos of my ancestors I would have wanted to purchase them even at the prices he was asking. Please contact me if any of these items interest you and I will try to contact the dealer.
