looking for family

"looking for family" is very vague. Can you be more specific on what kind of information you are looking for? What exactly do you need to complete your research?

I am looking for family contacted to them.. Pictures, documents, anything..

My great-grandfather is Walter Ascher, born in Silvercreek, Stephenson County, Illinois.
My grandmother (93 years old) is an Ascher. She told me that the Aschers were originally the Asche family. There are still many Aschers in the Stephenson County area of Illinois.
From doing research on Ancestry, I was able to confirm that the Asches and the Aschers are the same- when the name changed, I am not sure. I would suggest you try looking up information on Ascher(my great, great grandfather is Simon)-I believe that Hilke is in the lineage somewhere, that name is familiar to me.
The Asches/Aschers immigrated to IL from Germany in 1846. I have been able to trace info. back to the 1760's in Germany thus far.
For further research, Silvercreek is an unincorporated area in Stephenson County IL. I would suggest you look into Freeport IL, where many Aschers were and still are.

I have heard from other sources that some of the Asche family changed the spelling of the name for society reasons.. To seem more important I was told.. I have found that my Great Great Grandma Hilke (Helen Asche Schroeder) came to America w/ her husband John Schroeder around 1872.. I would really like to share more details w/ you.. email me anytime.
