OBIT: Sister Mary Theresia, CSFN a/k/a Helen Aptacy d. 2004 Philadelphia Pennsylvania

An honor to be the first post on this new aurname message board!

Posted as a random act of genealogical kindness in honor of the sisters who provided my college education (BVM's in Chicago), no relation to me and no further info available from me, sorry. Copied here under the Fair Use provisions for non-commercial research use, qualifying under subsections (1) - (4) of U.S. Code Title 17 Chapter 1 Sec. 107 regarding copyrights.

CSFN or C.S.F.N. means that Sr. Mary Theresia was a member of the Roman Catholic Order of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. They were founded in 1875. They now have schools and convents in many states, particularly in the Chicago and Philadelphia areas, as well as international sites. in fourteen countries. Their home website is http://www.csfn.org/ if you want to know more about Sister's order.

The "M." before her name means she took the name Mary Theresia. Many Roman Catholic women's orders require this of all their community. In some orders, original surnames are appended to the "name in religion" -- in other words, she may have been known as Sister M.Theresia Aptacy. I don't know what the custom is among the CSFN order. -- LS

Published in the Philadelphia Inquirer and/or Philadelphia Daily News on 4/16/2004.

Sister M. Theresia

Sister M. THERESIA, C.S.F.N. [also known as] HELEN APTACY, on April 14, 2004. Religious, relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Monday 4 P.M. at the Provincialate Chapel, Grant and Torresdale Aves. Funeral Mass 5 P.M. at the Provincialate. Int. Theresia's memory, donations to the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth - Development Office, 4401 Grant Ave., Phila., PA 19114 would be appreciated.

(SLABINSKI and SUCHARSKI FUNERAL HOMES 215 744 2700)
