John,

Thank you for getting to the bottom of this section of my mother's genealogy. It has been so interesting to find out this type of information and to meet so many gracious people on line that are forthcoming with what they know of their family histories. Thank you again, Regina Ehrhart, daughter of Lois Appelbe Lackner,Mt.Lebanon, PA.

Regina I believe Thomas Alphonse was the boy burried at
St.Marys Lawrenceville. Thomas Appelbe died in Chicago
1865 was he their for bussiness or was he visiting his daughter at the Cloister. Also got word that Edward ,Thomas
son died of double phenomia at a hotel in St Louis, and his
body was shipped back to the burg two years later. He died
1877 and was intered in StMarys 1879. Their is a letter at
Calvery Cemetary office explaining the circumstance.
James Appelbe Divorced Elizebeth Sweeney Appelbe that
is why he isnt their must have been a big todo at the time.
Type(Historic Pittsburgh go to the census 1870 street name
Washington it is about the third script Elizebeth an all her
Children are their and two others. Hope this helps.

Hi John,
Thank you for your kind reply. Although I do not have your James and Ellen, I have lots of Fishkill Applebys.
My line first appears in Fishkill, NY with
Appleby, Stephen; 1773-1775, 1777-1779
Stephen's daughter Anna Appleby married John Buckhout in Fishkill Baptist church in 1784
Stephen's son Gilbert Appleby is listed as a head of household in Fishkill in 1790
Spelling doesn't seem to matter much in this line, as we have both Applebys and Applebees.
I will watch for James, Ellen, Louisa, Eliza, and Thomas and let you know. As a side note, these male names recur frequently in my line.

Amy we are from Pittsburgh PA Our family name has not changed in 200yrs except for people misspelling it or the family did.I believe that their was a James Appelbe who married an Irish woman by the name of Ellen Keylay. Family search has an Ellen having two daughters,Ellen & Louisa Christened Sept 1, 1816 Fishkill, Dutchess, NY. I bellieve they also had a son John older than the girls. In the few family records their is a Western Union telegram dated Dec 16 1823. That John was 14 yrs or older and is responsible for own self. Also that the other children Louisa, Eliza,Thomas & James. So between 1816 & 1823 three more children were born and they had relocated to Pittsburgh. Ellen is in the Cencus of 1850 as being 60yrs so 1790 was yr birth. Any help
greatly appreciated.

Thomas Appelbe

Hi John,
This is Lois Appelbe Lackner's daughter of Pittsburgh, PA. I too have come to a dead end regarding Thomas Appelbe and how he came to Pennsylvania. My mother is specifically looking for a connection to a Thomas Alphonosus Appelbe buried in St. Mary's Cememtery, Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh, PA. The markers in this cemetary make reference to two(2) Thomas Appelbe's. One is simply Thomas Appelbe the other Thomas Alphonosus Appelbe. I am wondering if Thomas Alphonsus was an infant of Thomas Appelbe that died? Any clues let me know. Regina Ehrhart. rehrhart@nauticom.net.

Dear Mr. Appelbe,
Please tell me how you know that James came from Queens, NY. What else do you know of him. I descend from Thomas Appelbe of Gravesend/Hempstead/Rye. This Thomas was married in Queens in 1675. You are the only person I have ever heard of that also spells his name in this way.
Thanking you in advance.
Sincerely,
Amy Appleby
