Hi, I have some information on George Annetts (born Nov 12 1882, Kintbury Hungerford England) married to Edith Annetts (Hutton). George & Edith were my great-great-grandparents. Would love to exchange any information.

Hi Carol,I have a photo of Mary Jane Annetts with my g-g-grandfather who's name is Edward James (Known as James) Foster. I have found on the net that he is listed as a father of two of her children, but we never knew of her existence before finding the photo. Any light you could shed would be very helpful. Also I am very happy to send you a copy of the photo if you would like.

My husband's grandfather, William Holdway, was Frederick's brother. I have met 'Uncle Fred', your grandfather, and he may have come to our wedding.

Stephen's father was Thomas Holdway born 20 Jul 1814 and his mother was Jane Brackstone.

Thomas' father was another Stephen born 27 Apr 1772, who married Mary Smith 18 Feb 1802.

I have more information if you wish to contact me directly. I have little detail about Frederick, so would appreciate finding out more.

I'm trying to tie James and Robert Annetts (born circa 1860 & 1863 respectively), in Australia back to William Annetts/Jane Thompson. I'm not sure if I'm on the right thread of the family tree, as these seem to be fairly common names! The William Annetts you refer to - was his wife Mary Jane Smith? I have her as Jane Thompson, and their eldest daughter as Mary Jane, born 1885, who was 2 when the travelled to Aus. Please let me know if you have any further information.

Hi there, I'm Stephen's cousin and I've traced my Grandfather Edwin Frank Annetts' line back to Eldersfield I think. His father was Arthur Sidney Annetts I think who married Louisa Lewis (2nd marriage) in 1910. Maybe his father was Moses? I'm new to this so bear with me! My Grandad is still alive (93 this year) so I will ask him what he remembers but he did tell my Mum that our family came over from France at some point.

I think the ANNETTS were originally from Hampshire, Not sure how far back u have traced the line...Ive looked at Parish Registers with this lot thru the LDS here
Im wondering if it was originally french , as have seen it spelt Anates etc etc...Do u know the Origin of the name?

Hi Cathy
This is great! yes that is a direct line. My Mother was an Annetts Henry & Jane are my 5th Great Grandparents!! my mother was evacuated to Winterslow durning WW2, and my Grandfather was born there. I have travelled around the area of the years but have never been in to the Winterslows, its made up of a few rural villages, visit www.google.co.uk click on the maps tab at the top of the page, then type in winterslow, when it appears there is a small orange man on the top of the voom in out bar, drag him to any street and in will turn it into a visual of that spot, but you can then travel around from there in visual, very clever stuff.

I only live about an hour plus from ther and are planning to visit with my mother in about a month or so via the record office at Winchester in Hampshire.

Will let you know what I find

ANN ANNETTS Born 1790 in Clatford, Married SILAS STONE IN winterslow Wiltshire in 1808, Their Daughter Clarissa Stone Married a John Hare..Marriage as yet to be found tho, Came here to Australia in 1848
is the CAREY/ANNETTS youtr direct line

My grandad is Duncan Annetts from kempsey, in Worcester and hes 85 years old with 7 brothers and sisters. Not gone further back from that.

Thou my dad told me that the Annetts goes back to France and there used to be royalty under the name Annetts. hope this helps and hope you can help me more too.

Jane,

In your research, have you done anything on the Annetts of Amport. My Annetts line starts with Elizabeth Annetts who was christened 15 Sep 1799 in Penton Mewsey, the daughter of Edward Annetts and Mary Hillier. I believe that this Edward Annetts was the same person as the one christened at Amport on 11 Jan. 1768 (son of Edward and Elizabeth). Does this connect up to any of your family?

Henry Annetts m: Hanna Andrews in 1774

Found a Henry Annetts who married Hanna Andrews in 17 Oct 1774 Speen Berkshire. They had daughter Nanny Annetts who married John Bridgeman.
Does anyone have any connection to them? as I am trying to trace as far back as I can go.

My cousin has found an old obit among family papers with the following info: "John B. Lewis born in Wales on May 12, 1847, son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Annetts) Lewis. His father died in a mining accident in Wales in 1852, his mother came to America with three sons and one daughter and eventually settled in Clay County Iowa."

My ggggrandmother was Emma Lewis Watson born in England, 1833. One of her sons was Moses Annetts Watson. I think she must have been a sister or cousin to John B. Lewis. Most of the Lewis's, along with many Annetts, are buried in the Riverside Cemetery at Spencer, Iowa in Clay County.

I am wondering if my Thomas and Elizabeth Annetts Lewis could have been aunt and uncle to your Thomas?

I have a publication by the Winterslow WI and a man by the name of Annettes is mentioned.
WOODMANSHIP.
There came to Winterslow with Stephen Fox another Swiss, Annette. He and his family also settled down and practised and taught the craft of making the underwood into wattle hurdles, spars, cribs, rakes etc.
I don't know whether this is one of your Annettes but thought you may be interested, no date is given but a Stephen Fox is mentioned as being in Farley in 1651.

Hello. Thank you. I have managed to gather quite a substantial amount of information over the last couple of weeks - since my post! William was my g g g grandfather!! So we are most certainly coming from the same family tree - His son William Henry, was born in Australia, and I am his descendant.
Today my mother and I went to the cemetary at Adelong, NSW - where we found some graves, but not all of those buried there, we plan to get back there soon and spend more time looking. Perhaps we might find other information in Adelong also?!

I believe that I may be a descendaent of Stephen and Hannah Annetts - Just started my family research today, and I trace my family tree back to them if I am correct!!

My maternal grandmother was Patricia Delores Annetts - daughter of Arthur Royden Annettts, son of William Henry - Son of William, who I believe was perhaps the son of Stephen and Hannah.... any info you could give me would be great.......

My great great great grandfather was William Annetts who came with his wife and 2 brothers from Wiltshire by ship in 1857.His wife was Mary Jane Smith and they had 15 children The brothers I believe were gold miners and they settled in Adelong NSW.William's father wasStephen Annetts and his mother Hannah Sloper.Please contact me if you have more info. I also have Stephen Annetts in my family tree.He was born in 1809 and died in 1859. His mother was Sophia Annetts born 1782 in Collingbourne Ducis in Wiltshie. She has no husband on record. Her parents were Richard Annetts born 19/10/1746 in Milton Wiltshire and her mothewr was Hannah Farmer born 1745.He married Hannah Sloper and her parents were John Sloper and Jane Bendall.
I live in Castle Hill NSW Australia and would welcome any further info that you may have dug up.

My great grandmother was Mary Jane Annetts born in Wiltshire in 1855. She came to Australia in 1857 with her parents and brother Charles who was born on the way out. They were accompanied by 2 of her uncles and their families. Her father was William Annetts and his father was Stephen Annetts.Charles was one of the brothers who came with William and I think the other was Thomas or William.All the Annetts seemed to come from Collingbourne Ducis in Wiltshire.I hope this is of some help. was Leslie Arthur Annetts, son of John Annetts, who was related to the Winterslow Annetts'. My Uncle Gale (Gail) was actually (I think) a cousin of my father. We often went to Winterslow when we were children. Are you a relative of mine ? We used to go to Uncle's farm in Winterslow. I loved visiting him. My father was one of a large family. Hello, I am a descendant of Stephen Annetts & Hannah Sloper. I have researched this many years ago and am just in the process of updating my computer software and transferring all my info onto this new format of Ancestry.com I will be posting my family tree online for reference in the next few weeks as I believe I will have to retype all the information as I cannot transfer from my other computer. What line of Annetts do you come from? Mine start (as far back as I have found) with Moses, born 1824 in Eldersfield, Worcestershire, England. His son, John, born 1857 married Emily Hinton. They came to Canada in 1913. If we match ancestors, we can get into more detail later.

I've just started researching family history.
My Grandfather Frederick Holdway's father was Stephen born 14.2.1854 in Wildhern near Andover, Hampshire. Stephen married a Sarah Ann Annetts born 18 October 1856 in Upper Clatford, Hampshire.
They were married Andover on 25 December 1875

Does anyone have further information please.

It is possible Stephen's father was Thomas Holdway who married Jane Brackstone 19 July 1849 in Andover.

emily hinton was my gt gdfathers sister i would be grateful for all the info you have on that branch. emily georgianna was chr 8 jul 1855 in malvern link and was married to john annetts on 17 oct 1878 in st mathias malvern he was born in staunton glos and his father was moses. do get in touch if we have a link, though i am not a full member. mum said we had cousins in canada.

A shot in the dark but.. My grandfather, Percy George Annetts had brothers and sisters who emigrated to Canada. My mother cannot remember their names but said there were 5 brothers and 6 sisters! I know one brother was called William and was born approx 1900 in Oakley, Basingstoke Uk.
Mum also said the name came from France.
