Melanie: At the time your Ankroms were living in Virginia, mine were in Vinton County, OH. However, I looked at some trees on Ancestry.com and came across what appears to be your William E. Ankrom, son of Arthur, who was a son of Levi. The contact's name was Barbara and her email is bjmcnew@hotmail.com. She named her family tree the McNew Family. If you have an Ancestry.com subscription, you can access it through that site. If not you can probably access it through the WorldConnect Project at Rootsweb.com. You can try to email her, but a lot of times I find people change their email addresses. Barbara said the source for her information was Suzann Ankrom Wedig.
