I realize yours is a very old post. My great-grandfather was Samuel Anger and my grandmother was Lena Anger. Samuel was born in Tennessee. His father, Herman Anger, immigrated to US from Germany. Samuel Anger ended up marrying Mary Gannister (also of Germany) and they had five children and lived in Philadelphia and New Jersey. They had five children: Herman, Paul, Sam, Jr., Charlotte, and Lena. Not sure if any of these folks are related to your Angers of Germany.
