Dear Cornelia,
I read, with interest, your post of Sept 20, on the ANDRUS's
of Canaan, CT. At this point in time I am unsure which of the Andrus's you mentioned may possibly be my ancestor but I am looking for any Andrus from the Canaan, CT area before
1761 with a son named Eber Andrus. It has been suggested
to me that the parents of Eber may have been John and Hannah (Merriman) Andrus, whom you mention as being from Wallingford, CT. You also mentioned that this John had a son named Ephraim -b: 1714 who lived and died in Stillwater, Saratoga Co., NY. Did John Andrus also have a son named Eber who also lived in Stillwater, NY?? Could Ephraim and Eber be one and the same person??
My known ancestor, Sarah ANDRUS, whom I am hoping was the daughter of Eber Andrus, was born in 1767, I believe in Stillwater, and married John TOMS in 1786 in Stillwater - they are my ggg grandparents.
John TOMS - b: 1757 may also have been from Canaan, CT as he is recorded as christened in the Congregational Church of Canaan - abt 1761. However, John TOMS could have been born somewhere else and christened in Stillwater in 1761 - after the Congregational Church of Canaan, CT moved to Stillwater. I have not yet found the proof I need to be positive on this. John TOMS parents were Robert and Sarah ? TOMS.
In your extensive research have you ever come across any information that may help me with "Eber Andrus"??
Thank You for any help you can offer me. It is appreciated.
