The info I have said she was born 1602 in Duxbury, England and was the sister of Anthony. Anthony came to America on the Anne in 1623. I have never heard she was native American. How could she be and be from up around Plymouth. The Mayflower did not even arrive until 1620 and there were no Annables there prior to that that I know of.

Eduoard de la Bompasse was supposedly born about 1605 in France. Some say he was born in England and other says Leyden, Holland where a lot of people fleeing oppression were until they could emigrate. He did arrive in Plymouth on the Fortune in 1621 and his name was spelled on the manifest as Bumpas. He married Hannah Annable in 1628 in Plymouth and he died April 3, 1693 in Marshfield, Plymouth, MA. I do not doubt they were caught up in King Philip's War. King Philip was a native American who tried to run off the whites and it was rather bloody. Again, Hannah was not a daughter of Anthony. He was born in 1599.

Yes, Tom. The Mayflower did not arrive at Plymouth until 1620 so how could anyone of Indian and English descent have been born by 1602? Please read my other posting.

Hannah Anable was NOT the wife of Edouard Bompasse ( Edward Bumpus/Bumpass). Hannah married another man. Edouard's wife was named Hannah but her surname has yet to be found.

hi bettye, thanks for getting back to me!:) this hannah which is edwoud / edward bompasse/ bumpus wife is a mystery! i have recieved a message from another researcher and he/she said the same thing! my brother and i were discussing the ratio of the men and women the people from both ships. i think i remember 50% of the mayflower passengers didn't survive the first winter so between the both ships there weren't many women for the men to chose for wives so we believe they took native american women for wives and had large families to help carve out a living in the wilderness and the men they married gave them anglo saon names. we think this was done because of shame and they hid their heritage down though the genrations to present making if difficult to trace ancestery. my cousen who is now diseased maintained that hannah was a native american and she and edward were at the fort at the out break of the war. where she got that imformation is also a mystery! :(
bettye ,can you give me a source of your information? any help is much appreciated.thank you.tom

Tom, I have the info on who Hannah Anabell married but I will have to dig it out of a stack of paper files. I truly do not believe that Edouard's wife was of Indian heritage. Nothing like that has come down through any of the multitude of descendants of the various Bumpass lines.

I will get back to you in a couple of days, Bettye
