Dear Jim -
Yes, I believe 2 Oles. My note was some time ago, and I have learned more since. My Ole Ambroson was literally 'Ambrose' son'. His father was Ambrose Drengmanson and his mother was Anna Pedersdatter. They immigrated to Minnesota from Norway in 1885. Ambrose and Anna Drengmanson were both dead by 1907. Ole changed his name to Ole Ambroson and moved to North Dakota. There seems to be some family lore that there was a disagreement among the Drengmanson children as to what surname should be kept and the spelling of it. Another brother called himself 'Amberson' and a third kept Drengmanson. Also, it may be that Anna Drengmanson also took the name Ambroson. At least, Ole's son has naturalization papers that he believes to be his grandmother's, and she is called Anna Ambroson.
The confusion came about when Ambrosons from Iowa moved to Minnesota. There was another Anna Ambroson, but she was not Ole (Drengmanson) Ambroson's mother. This took place in Rushford, Filmore, Minnesota.
After moving to Traill, ND, Ole married twice and had 13 children. His greatgrandson is my son-in-law.
