The three children were my Grandfather, Kenneth, Stanley and Laurence. I remember Uncle Stanley, but not too much about Uncle Larry. I don't know if I ever met my great grandparents, John and Edith, as I was little.

Jack,
I have John Gordon dying in1967. John would be my great grandfather; my grandfathers father. Do you know what Harleys middle name is? I can only find the initial T in everything.
Ephraim Amidon, did he have a son named Phillip as well as his father named Phillip? And was Ephraim wifes maiden name Smith or Dean? The further I go, the more confusing it gets. I know it should be expected, but wow!
Thank you
Kelly

Kelly I know Stan ... we both are members and past presidents of the Amidon Family Association. I have not seen Stan in a few years as the Association is no longer active ....

Unfortunately, I haven't seen him since well before 1990. My parents remarried and we moved to Ohio.
Amidon Family Association? I didn't know such a thing existed. How would I get more information on it? Very interested.

Are you still looking for info on Johns first wife before Sarah Thurber?

Jack,
I am finding conflicting information on children's names. A lot of the same names showing up on different Amadon/Amidon etc... parents.
Also, finding the same person being called tow different names. Hannah and Joanna. Could it be the same person using a different name such as a middle name? Or possibly a mistake reading/writing the transcript?
I am new at all this and still trying to learn some of the lingo; like what would roger1 mean? or phillip6? I found a forum on genealogy.com and have seen all the above. It is great info but confusing for a newbie like me.
Thank you Jack. I really appreciate you sharing and helping me.

Kelly, the Family association is no longer, most of the older members have died off, or just can not do it any more.... there are only about five families that are trying to keep it going. I am one of the youngest members I am 55. I do not have Stan's new email but I will try and get it for you. I am not sure how to private message you on this forum .... I have a web page (not updated) but will help you understand the family tree ... go to www.tribalpages.com and look up My Branch of the Amadowne-Amidon Family tree. The roger1, philip2 are how genealogy programs mark generations Roger Amadowne was the first Amadowne, Phillip is second etc. the names carry over from generation to generation.... I have found that most of the Canadian cousins go by their middle name ! no sure why ...just makes our job harder. give me a few days and I'll try to put something together for you.
