Salvatore and Caterina were my great grandparents. They are buried in Holy Cross Cemetary in Brooklyn.
They are from the towm of Sambuca in Sicily.
Their children include Joe, Frank, Nellie, Mona, Mary and Elizabeth who is my grandmother. Does this ring any bells?

Hi Kevin,

My Grandparents, Mary and Anthony are also buried in Holy Cross Cemetary in Brooklyn. It would appear that we are related. My Aunt Katherine called Katie by the family and close friends always vacationed in Florida in her younger years.

Let me ask you, did your Grandmother's sister Minnie live in the Borough Park Section of Brooklyn? She had a daughter named Fannie and a son whose name I don't recall. It might have been Joe. Minnie's married name was Volpe.

I see that your in New York. Where in New York. We're in New York too. I still see a number of cousins on the Bilello side. They're going to get a kick out of this.

I see a cousin named Liboria Bilello quite often. Actually she's called Pat. Her dad was Joseph Bilello just like my dad. They lived in Queens, NY. He was quite musical as is most of the Bilello family.

Do you know Tony Bilello? He was a very tall, thin man who lived in Florida for a very long time. He was my father's cousin and was quite an interesting fellow.

Am I ringing any bells here?

the bells are deafening!!!

The name Tony Bilello sounds so familiar, but I can't remember why. I must have been 6 or 7 when I met Katie.

Minnie married a Volpe. My family lore says that the Volpe's moved to Boston. Mary, Minnie and Elizabeth had a brother named Frank/Francesco and another brother Joe. There is also mention of two other girls, Mona and Nellie. Are these nicknames for Mary and Minnie?

My e-mail is ktaylor@brownraysman.com.

let's talk further
