My grandfather was Fred VanTrojen. His mother was Hattie. We have several last names for Hattie as she was married several times. Amacher, Brooks, VanTrojen, Nagel. (Not sure of the spelling for Nagel.) Can you help??

Hi!
Well, I think I'm one of your relatives. My grandmother was Adrienna Van Trojen. . . and after a career in the Air Force I've returned home and am living on Van Trojen Road--about a mile from the original homestead.

Yes, I've got information. Would be glad to share what I have.

I know this is an old posting, but am hoping you're still at this address.

Nancy:

I beleive I'm your second cousin, once removed. I am the great-grandson of Albert Edward & Susanna [Ammeter] Bishop.

At one time I was in contact with Nancy Tweed, but my most recent message to her bounced. I had the address registered with this message board. Perhaps she still checks this board however. (I have a couple of recently-found pictures of which I wanted to send her scans.)

I'm also researching this family and would like to share information with you.

Hope to hear from you.

Ron

Ha! That would be me. . .Nancy Tweedle was a married name that I got rid of the same day as the divorce was final. I'm back to Nancy McDaniel. . . am married to Glenn Davis (but he didn't want to change his name so he kept his too)

Would love to chat with you. Am living in Chimacum, on Van Trojen Road, and am HOME.

Take care!!

Nancy

Nancy:

Your reply was very confusing at first. Then I reread my post and realized I had mistakenly referred to "Nancy Tweed" instead of "Debbie Tweed", the person whose post your were originally replying to. Ironically you both have almost identical married names! Debbie is the one whose email address seems to be obsolete.

I thought I better straighten that out in this forum and clear up any confusion I had created. I will contact you by email.

Hello Ron, I have recently found time to get back to this and found your message to Nancy. I was also divorced as Nancy was and remarried but took my new husband's name, Rickerson.

I would love to get any information that you or Nancy may have as I have been out of touch for a while.

I have come across the 1900 Census for Multnomah, Oregon that states my grandma Hattie was one of five children. I knew about John and Fred, but not Earnest or Emma. I had recently heard rumors though. Do you have any info?

From your recent post, I'm not certain, but I'm assuming you are the same person who initiated this thread. In which case, I believe we also exchanged email back in 2004 - 7 years ago! So I had to refresh my memory a little before writing this. My computer from back then has since died and I lost all that email, so I'm relying on memory.

Since then I've identified Hattie in a couple more photos and have also received a couple more of Elizabeth [Amacher] Ammeter. Also, in 2008, I stopped by the Greenwood Cemetery in Chimacum and took pictures of headstones. I found Hattie's - she was buried there as "Hattie M. Brooks" (8/27/1890 - 2/9//1979). Her former husband Louis S. Nagle (d. 7/9/1926) is also buried there.

I haven't done much more on the Amacher line, but am in contact with descendants. I'll see if I can figure out how to email you contact information for them through this site, in case you don't already know them.
