Hi Lisa,
My dad, James Amabile was born in Springfield, MA. - later moved to Chicago. I know his father was Ralplh -but they had other relatives there - I just don't know their names, but they were all from Bracigliano, so I'm assuming they were all related. If you are able to find out anymore, please let me know. Take care.

John, I am also trying to figure out a bit of our history and I only know as far back as the Giovanni great grandfather from Sant' Arsenio. By the way things look, there were more than one Giovanni in that area, during the time frame of our great grandfather. I do know that my grandfather Raffaele (Ralph as most knew him) told me several times before he passed, that our name in that part of Italy was well known and common. Coincidentally, you and I were both born in 1964, I was born April 8th in Chicago. I also know that almost all of the Amabile's in Chicago and northern Illinois are related, and our family has grown very large. I am pretty sure that when my family arrived in the United States, they traveled to work on the farms in Illinois, near Streeter, Illinois, and then eventually they moved into Chicago. All of the Amabile's I know all live in the suburds of Chicago, with the exception of me, I am in Las Vegas, on my way to California (Dec 2003). Hope to find out more information from anyone that has it!

My grandfather's name was Frank Amabile, and was born in Brooklyn, NY. He married and fathered three children in Elizabeth NJ. My uncle Ray Amabile now resides in CT, my mother Gael Amabile in Iowa, my brother Ryan Amabile in MN, and myself in Iowa. My grandfather's parents immigrated from Italy, but from which part and when I do not know.
