My birthname was Gaetano Alioto (Tom)
For some unknown reason, the last name was changed to Galioto. My father was born in S'Elia, Sicily. in
1895. His parents were Gaetano Galioto Anna Machi. My grandfather,
Gaetano was born Jul. 26, 1863. My
grandmother, Anna was born Jul. 26, 1869. Gaetano.s brothers sisters were Joseph, Peter, Angelo, Frank, Sara, Francesca, Rosalia. My grandfather, Gaetano's father was
Francesco Alioto, born in 1815, of course all were born in St. Elia.
His wife was named Catherine Canninzaro.I know there is a confusion in the names because of the name change. My name is Tom Galioto.
I know the brothers sisters of my great-grandfather, Frank, probably went to Milwaukee San Francisco.
Also my grandfathers brothers sisters probably went to the same cities, At the turn of the century, my grandfather went to Milwaukee with
the grandfather of Joseph Alioto (mayor) of S.F. Later my grandfather went back to S'Elia got his family,
including my father settled in Pgh.
Regardless of relationships, its nice to know that we all came from the same tree (S'Elia). I was there 5 months ago plan on going back next year. I dearly love it--just call me Sicilian. Molti Auguri e felicita to
all of you out there.
Gaetano(Tom) Galioto
Peter, Angelo, Frank.
