Y DNA test results (see
http://alexanderdna.org/summary.html) are posted for three descendants of Jabez Alexander b. 1755 Marlborough, MA. All three tests show that this Alexander line belongs to Y DNA haplogroup I1 which is specific to Europe, particularly in lower Normandy and Scotland. This information confirms oral history that Philip Alexander, Jabez' grandfather, came from Scotland and cannot be connected to Native Americans whose Y DNA haplogroups are Q and C.
There is an error on the part of the descendant through Jabez' son Alvah. The report shows that Jabez' father is Thomas Alexander and that Thomas' father is Ebenezer. This would be an easy error. There were two Thomas Alexanders living in Marlborough--one born in 1721 in Woburn and one born in Marlborough in 1727. Jabez' father is the Thomas who was born 1721 in Woburn and his father is Philip. The Thomas born 1727 in Marlborough is the son of Ebenezer.
