Hi Lesley,

Thanks for reply.

Does the marriage certificate show Harry's occupation? (and his wife's?). They would be of interest.

Looking at death registrations on limited index on Ancestry there was a death of an Arthur Joseph Alderton in Brighton Sussex in 1916 (of the right age). Also a death of a Louisa Alderton in Brighton in 1916 (of the right age).

Just my thoughts... If these two who died 1916 had been Harry's parents their departure would have given Harry "licence" to travel away from the area where they had lived. Not knowing currently Harry's occupation at the time, perhaps he had at some point before marrying, been working at Brighton Extra Mural Cemetary, (Lewes Road, Brighton), where his grandfather and father had both worked.
Arthur Joseph Alderton's father Harry had become a gardener at some point, then secretary of the Cemetary.

Look forward to hearing back.

Kind regards,
Penny
