Want to find extended family of BONNEY or AICHER.
Leona R. BONNEY, b. abt 1909, was the daughter of Edith M. and Hartley H. BONNEY of Marion County. I believe they had another daughter, Ruby BONNEY.
Hartley was the son of Eunice and George F. BONNEY.
George F. BONNEY, b. 29 Mar 1851, was the son of Bradford Sherwood BONNEY.
Hartley had a brother Roy BONNEY and wife Cora that lived near. Edith must have died, aft 1930, and Hartley married a Jessie, he died in Clackamas Co.

Leona R. BONNEY married Henry John AICHER abt 1930 in Marion Co. Henry died in 27 Jul 1932. They may have had a child. Henry J. AICHER was the son of Katherine and Joseph AICHER. Joseph was born abt 1862 in Bavaria, Germany. Katherine and Joseph also had Sebastian, Theresa, and Frank AICHER.

Leona R. BONNEY AICHER married Richard William STARR bef 1934. They had a son Le Roy Gene STARR in 1934 in Sacramento, CA. Richard STARR worked for the railroad.

Leona R. BONNEY AICHER STARR must have married unk CLAUSEN and Leona died as Leona STARR CLAUSEN on 27 Jun 1945 in Alameda, CA.
Any family out there? I'm out of breath! Thank you.

I found the name of Mrs. Joseph AICHER on a list of names circulated by Oregon State Hospital patient memorial workgroup.

From the late 1800s to the 1970s the bodies of patients that were not claimd by family after their deaths at the mental hospital were burned and put into copper canisters/urns and then labeled and put on a shelf in an abandoned part of the hospital. The Oregon State Hospital, a mental facility, has been in Salem for about 123 years. If anyone thinks that their relative may be on the list of people that have gone unclaimed, please contact me at LiMaSum@aol.com and I'll look on the list. Or the list may still be available in pdf format online. You'll have to have adobe acrobat to read it.

This is the available info on the above mentioned:
Name given to urn: Mrs. Joseph AICHER
medical records: 2/1/1927 _ 54

So evidently they were living at the mental hospital in Salem, Oregon in 1927. And again, if he/she is your relation, he/she may still be available to be claimed by his/her family. There are thousands of urns waiting for their families.

What a kind thing you are doing, truly a labor of Love.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could find families for all of those copper cans?
Thank you.
I will pass this information on to the Aicher Family.

It would be wonderful to find families for all of the copper cans. I've grown attached to the project.
My own great grandmother, Genevieve Temple - Oldfield, died at the asylum in Salem. She probably had some sort of nervous disease like MS. We don't think she was crazy. She passed very young, and her daughter, my grandmother, was only abt 11 at the time. We have never found out how she died or exactly what was wrong with her. I was once told that her medical records may have been lost in a fire, but I'm not sure if that is accurate. I'm facinated about what it must have been like for her in that place.
