Do not know much about our family history. I do know that my grandfather stayed in Ottumwa, IA: because of my grand mother. My Gandfather Forrest Agan was from some where in Iowa.

Dear Anna, What a day. I believe your grandfather Forrest to be my Uncle. He is an uncle I remember with love and affection. He lived in Chariton, Ottumwa and Des Moines at different times. His father was Lemuel Elcanah (Cane) Agan, his mom was Mary Matilda Umbenhower Agan Martz. Does this fit in with what you are looking for? If so you and I are cousins as my father was his brother Clifford Agan. Also got a message today from another lady that is probably a cousin that is a descendant of a half-brother. Let me know. Jen

Talitha, Your Grandpa Jim is right. My father Clifford was one of his elder brothers. You wrote about the Agan Bible, are you talking about the one that my Uncle Loren had? I had thought that one was lost. I hope you do have it. Anyway, I have got quite a bit of info on our family and am happy to share with you. I descend thru:
Clifford Harold Agan-Grace Estella Robinson
Lemuel Elcanah(Cane) Agan-Mary Matilda
Umbenhower
Lemuel Agan- Sarah Luella Bell
John Agan- Nancy Lockhart
William and Mary Conley.
Contact me Benj@Proaxis.com. Does your Granpa remember that I stayed with them for a few days when I was a girl? Jen

Was Kenneth the son of Lemuel and Gladys
or Lemuel and Mary? Oscar's book doesn't mention
Kenneth. Sounds like it's time to post the
entire book and then for all of us to get together
and fill in the many blanks.

Tom, I believe that Kenneth is listed as James in the book. We always called him Jim when I was a child. Kenneth(James) is a child of Lemuel Elkanah and Gladys. Lemuel E. and Mary were married first and had 7 children, Lemuel E. and his second wife Gladys had 6 children. All of the first 7 children are dead now. My Aunt Cleta having just died February 1999.

Thank Jen, I was wondering. Thank goodness for
Oscar's book, imagine doing 7 generation of virtually
every member of every family, and to do this
from the 30s to the 60 pre-internet. He was
a credit to our family.

Hi Bruce, I sure am glad to see your messages. Did you know that Aunt Cleta Agan Riska died in Florida? I am confused about your statement about Mary Martz. The only Mary Martz I know of was our father's mother, Mary Matilda Umbenhower Agan Martz. She had married Guy Martz sometime in the 1910-1920s and they lived in Ottumwa. Guy was a conductor on the railroad. I would like to hear from you by E-mail. Your sister.
