Can anyone tell me if you are related to Carlo Affatigato, b. Santa Flavia, Sicily and came to the US around 1898?? This would be my gggrandfather, and my great grandmother would be his daughter, Gaetana. Other siblings that I suspect are Caterina, Pietro, Rosa.
I know that they all seem to be connected to the Affatigato family that lived in NY, as Carlo lived in Brooklyn when he first came here. All help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Dear Andrea,
My grandfather was Salvatore Affatigato. He was born in Flavia,Bagheria, Palermo 10/23/1887. (I have his military record dated 1907 but it's in Italian) He came to this country in the early 1900 and lived outside Pittsburg. He had relatives in Brooklyn where he met my grandmother Carmela Raineri. I don't know anything about his family. If you find out any information please e-mail me.

Dear Andrea
I also remember my mom talking about her uncle Carl. She told me he was tall and had blue eyes. But I don't know if he was on her mother or fathers side.

Paul, What else do you know about Phillip Affatigato? I know very little about my ggrandmother's family other than when they came here, where they were from, and several of the children's names. And that is only in HER family. There are several Affatigatos in the New York-New Jersey area that you may want to check out, but I suppose that it is more likely that you are related to my branch of the family, since I only live 40 miles from Pgh, and it would seem highly possible that one of my ggrandmother's brothers lived and worked in Pgh. Let me know what you have and maybe we can make a connection.

Hello Marina
My granddfather was Salvatore Affatigato born October 23 1887, in S. Flavio Italy, to Salvador and Catherine. I believe he was the cousin of the family you mentioned on Union Street. From a census in the 1930s there appears to be two families on Union Street. My mother never talked much about her father only that he had a sister that lived on 5th street. She use to come to visit us when I was young, she had a dauther.
My mom had an older brother Vito and twin brothers Sal and Tony they have passed away. Both my mom and aunt Katie have lost their memory and can't provide me with much information, however my aunt katie's husband (Greg) may be able to help.
you may e-mail me if you would like.
Regards Marie
