Aebli's of Mississippi/Lousiana

Aebli's of Mississippi/Lousiana

I am researching the Aebli's that came from Switzerland in the 1850's. They arrived in New Orleans via La Havre, France under the name Aebli. They showed up in the 1860 Census in Harrison County, Mississippi with the spelling as Abla. I have not been able to locate them in the 1870 Census for Harrison County. In 1880 they showed back in Harrison County, but the name had change to Abbley.

I'm not sure what happened to them between 1860 and 1870. I think some of them may have moved to Louisiana or even up north to Minnesota or Wisconsin where they may have relatives.

Wesley,

I am descended from these Aeblis. My branch ended up in Colfax County, Nebraska. Please contact me via e-mail if you would like to exchange information. We have always wondered how the family ended up in Nebraska after years in Mississippi. Not the normal emigration pattern!

I wonder if your Aebli's could be related to the Aebly's of New Glarus Green Co WIS and my Ably line of JoDaviess Co IL, one of the daughters Magdalena married a Clarence Hill and they moved to MS via the Dakotas.
