Any Aebi family members out there?
Aebi is my husband's Mother's maiden name. Her family is from Minnesota. Her Father's name was William Conrad Aebi and her Grandfather's name was Charles Conrad Aebi. Would like to go farther back on the family tree, but Mom doesn't remember a whole lot. Thanks.

Aebi could be a Swiss family name. If this is so, may be I could help you find out more about the ancestors of your mother. Just have a look on my website http://www.renaca.ch/famfor-en.htmlKind regards Renato Caccia, Zurich

Hi Rebecca, My Aebi family was centered around Alliance, Ohio and from all the info I have, they came from Bern, Switzerland. My fathers name was Charles Ray Aebi, my grandfathers name was Charles Frank Aebi and my great grandfathers name was Godfried Aebi. I don't know of any of my Aebi's being in the Minnesota area, but you never know.
Regards,
Carol Aebi Schrimscher

I still don't know a whole lot about William Conrad or Charles Conrad. William Conrad was a firefighter both in the service and here in Cincinnati, OH. They weren't the ones from MN, my husband's grandmother was. They met here in Cincinnati. So an Alliance, OH connection is possible. My Mother-in-Law just told me about some Aebi information she has somewhere in her attic. As soon as things settle down around here, I will pressure her to find it. Then I will get back to you.

Re: Any Aebi family members out there?
To Whom It May Concern: My paternal great-grandparents (surname "Aebi") immigrated from Bern canton in the late 1800's. They changed their name to "Abbey" so that English-speaking people could pronounce and spell it... It sounded more American and helped their assimulation.

Re: Any Aebi family members out there?
My family line on my mother's fathers side starts with Benicht Aebi on 18, Aug.1566 in Bǜtikofen, Bern, Switzerland. The Aebi and Aeby spellings are from the same familys. One spelling if they were Catholic and the other Protestant. The ancient spelling was " Äbỷ " My Great-Great Grandfather was Karl Theodor Aebi. He Immigrated 11, Oct 1866 to New York aboard ARAYO from Le Havre.

Re: Any Aebi family members out there?
Perhaps. I'm not familiar with the names you have mentioned though. I have Aebi connections through marriages to my ancestors. I have infromation that Margaret Pearl Aebi married Edward Albert Schenk in 1913 in Canton, Ohio. According to information that I have, her parents were Gottfried Aebi(1864-1921) and Mary Umport (1861-1930). It could be that Gottfried was a brother to Karl? I know my grandmother (Rosa Brunie Schenk) immigrated from Bern. As well, my great grandmother came to the states on La Lorraine out of Le Havre.
