I am descended from both Mary and Parker Adkins. Here's the sequence on Parker: Fred O'Neill,Stina Ferguson O'Neill, Pharaoh Ferguson (d. 1937, Huntington, WV), Milton J. Ferguson (born 1849),Edmund Ferguson m. Mary Levon Adkins, William Joseph ("Sleepy Billy") Adkins, Hezekiah Adkins, Parker Adkins, William V. Adkins (m. Elizabeth Parker) ... From Mary: Fred O'Neill, Stina Ferguson, Pharaoh Ferguson, Sarah (Adkins)Ferguson (m. Milton J. Ferguson), Cinderella Adkins (mother of Sarah) m. David Adkins II ... It splits two ways here: Cinderella was daughter of "Blind Charlie" Adkins, son of Jacob Adkins Jr.; David II was son of Mark and grandson of David (Revolutionary War) Adkins of Goochland County 1754-1830. Jacob II and David were sons of Mary ... Robert Harley was Earl of Oxford during he eign of queen anne. He was dismissed for botching the Treaty of Utrecht. Don't know if he had a son named Jacob. Our "Jacob" was supposedly a British tax collector and wasntoo popular after 1775 ... "Royal Line" is actually via Elizabeth Parker Atkinson. Her grandfather was Dr. richard Parker of Henrico County (b. 1630). See "Three Richard Parkers of Virginia" by Waunita Powell for details. He has been confused with a "Richardm Parker" of Nansemond County (no relation). "Dr.Richard" was of the Parkers of Browsholme Hall in Lancashire. He arrived in 1652 in Charles City County (see Powell)and was - from all accounts, verified by stephen A. Lawson and Browsholme Hall website (which endorses Powell, but mistakenly says richard was from Nansemond). Adkins web sites go astray by saying that Richard Parker Jr's SECOND wife, "Mitha" ("Mira") was Elizabeth Parker Atkinson's mother. She wasn't. Her mother was Richard Jr's FIRST wife, Elizabeth Ballard. Much confusion - created partly by "Nansemond Parkers" (North Carolina not correcting earlier errors. Once again, see Mrs. Powell' conclusive research paper (she's 84 and spent 10 years - 1980-90 - compiling her extensive research ... Yes, the Parkers of Browsholme Hall are descended v - via Bullars, Trethurffes, Courtenays, DeBohuns - from Elizabeth Plantagenet, daughter of King Edward I of England ... The rest, as they say, is "history"! ... My home computer is down, but I can be reached at 288 Ridgewood drive, Marietta, Ohio 45750 or by calling (740)373-2186 ... Genealogy can be messy!
