Sometimes we get so wrapped up in tracing our male lines that we tend to forget the ladies who marry into our Adams families.

Be sure you have as much verified information as possible on these ladies as it will be of great assistance while proving your correct male line.

This is extremely important when you are working on your early ancestors.

For example let us say a John Adams married a Mary Worth and they had four sons John, Robert, William and Thomas.

It is not uncommon for all four of these sons naming one of their boys John! That means you will be running into marriages, deaths, births, purchases of land etc. of a lot of John's around the same time period. There will also be John's who belong to other families with your surname yet are unrelated.

By taking the time to search out and prove the wife of each you can seperate the various lined and introduce many more ancestral lines some of which will prove to be families you were never aware of.

Always be sure to require positive proof on all your entries as it will save you an uncountable amount of time in your further work.

A mere listing from some Famnily History that does not indicate necessary proofs of dates or parentage will signify that you will need to do additional work for that entry.

Most of the early Family Histories contain so many errors, large and small. Take your time and search elsewhere for additional proofs, YOUR LINE IS ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR PROOFS.
