AUSTINTOWN, OHIO - James Earnest Adams, 76, peacefully fell asleep, April 4, 2014, at the St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
James Earnest Adams was born on July 2, 1937, in Kimball, W.Va. (McDowell County) to Joe Clifford Adams and Retha Blunt Adams.
James moved from West Virginia to Elyria, Ohio (Lorain County) in the late 1960s.
He was employed as a press operator at Timm’s Spring Company for 31 years.
Recently, he was an Independent Associate for Prepaid Legal and as Independent Distributor for Dri Wash Products.
James was formerly a member of the Park Street Seventh-day Adventist Church in Oberlin, Ohio and was engaged in ministry in the Sabbath School Department and served as Adventist Youth Leader.
He joined the Temple Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2004, but health problems prevented regular attendance.
James served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was involved in boxing and football. James’ service took him to such interesting places as Casablanca, Morocco and also parts of Europe. Mr. Adams found much enjoyment in crossword puzzles.
James had an ardent love for the TV show Jeopardy.
He could speedily answer questions and held a wealth of knowledge of astronomy.
James leaves to lovingly cherish his memory his wife, Maggie Hatchett Adams, who he affectionately called “Angel;” his brother, Henry Russell of Youngstown, OH; nephews, Henry Russell Jr. (Sharon), Jeffery Russell of Youngstown, Ohio and Robert Jackson (Jacqueline) of Toledo, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Essell Russell; niece, Shelia Russell; and uncle, Simon Blunt. The family would like to thank the staff of Briarfield Manor for the compassionate care extended to James.
Memorial services will be held Monday, April 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Temple Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church, 108 W. Indianola St. in Youngstown, Ohio.
