Hello. My late husband did business with Sam and Dora. We had many extraordinary dinners at their house homemade by Dora, who was probably one of the world's greatest cooks! They were delightful people! My son who is now almost 40, had his hair cut by Sam at the Belmont Shore Barbershop.

I am a California Abinanti but we don't know too much about our ancestry. I know my great-grandfather was Frank Abinanti and family members have said that he came to New Orleans from Sicily, although we never have heard how he came to settle in San Francisco. We discovered Frank's parents were Guiseppe and Antonina Abinanti from Sclafani and Alia provences of Sicily because we found an Abinanti family plot in Colma, CA where Frank and his parents are all buried. Stanley Abinanti, Frank's son from his first wife, told us his father was married 3 times and was shot by his third wife. He wasn't too fond of his father so we don't know too much more than that. Frank had brothers but we aren't sure of their names. We think Joe may have been one and Salvatore another? If anyone knows anything please let me know.

I am the granddaughter of the NY Salvatore (nicknamed Charlie) Abinanti who also came from Ventimiglia (Palermo, Sicily). I am not sure of the year of his immigration, or his birth year although, ironically, he was also born in November -- the 16th, I think. He was married to Anna Corso and they had three daughters: Frances (my mother), Rosalie and Marie. I'd be interested in hearing if there are any further details. Thanks

I am not sure what year my grandparents came to America from Palermo but I know that it was before 1914. I believe that they went directly to New Orleans where my dad was born in 1914. I know that my great grandfather had two wives but and children from both wives but I don't remember hearing about Salvatore. I will check with my cousin who has done a lot of research on our family. Do you know any of your great uncle's names? Thank you for your reply.

My father passed away in 1980. He was Donald Corso formerly Abinanti. He was born in 1917. He moved here from Sicily. I was born in L.A. in 1964. I think he was related to Frank.
