Affidavit of Capt Benjamin Roberts... that in the fall of 1779 he enlisted William Abbott Sr., of Culpeper County, Virginia for two years and he served in his company until 25 December 1780 and then he returned to Virginia.
The memorial of Joseph Abbott, Sharlottie Abbott Phebe Pritchard, Hannah Skilman, a widow. William, Robert and French Abbott, Roxalana Boe, wife of Joseph Boe, William Henry Abbott, Fanny Neele, wife of Thompson Neele, Lucian Abbott, a majority of whom live in Scott and Bourbon Counties. To the Governor of Virginia: The above named persons deposeth that their deceased father, William Abbott enlisted as a regular soldier in Culpeper County, Virginia...(dated 1835)
Another record dated 1834: Polly Barbee, late Polly Abbott, dec'd, leaving Joseph Barbee and other children, Roxalana, William, Hannah Skillman, French and said Polly Abbott... that they are the only heirs at law of said William Abbottt Sr., who was a Private in the Army of the Revolution in the Illinois Regiment of the Virginia State Line.
From this last record, it seems that Polly nee unk married twice: m1 to William Abbott & had at least 4 children; m2 ???? Barbee by which she had a son Joseph Barbee.
Also have: GUARDIANSHIP: Jesse BARBEE is appointed guardian to French ABBOTT orphan of Wm ABBOTT, dec'd.
Surety: John McKINZEY. 3 April 1815.
Does anyone have research that closely matches or connects to the above information? I am stumped.
