In the Danforth Genealogy I read that on the death of his fthr, James Danforth, Josiah F. Danforth was old enough to make a choice abt guardian and chose Joshua Abbot. Middlesex County, Massachusetts Probate Index, 1648-1870 seems to support this because there is a listing regarding guardian dated 1768. James D. d. in 1758. Josiah's mthr re-married in Dec 1770.
