I am looking for Aaberg family history, but I don't know where to start. I can't afford to pay the 50-100 dollars that websites like this one want, so it's pretty much going to be just me looking. Any help is appreciated though.

I don't really have any names that would be of any help, so I guess I'd just like to know as much as I can about the Aaberg family.

I would also really like to find my family's Coat of Arms - I'm almost positive we had one, my brother had one embroidered for my father. It could have been a novelty one, but I think it was real. Does anybody know if the Aaberg Family really has one or not?

Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

Also, and this is going to sound like a real stupid question, but where any Aabergs real Vikings? (I always joke with my friends about how I'm a Viking, I was just wondering if any of my ancestors were.)

Thanks again.

Hi Andrew,

The best place to start is with what you know. Do you have your parent's names, birth and death dates? The location where they lived? You start there and work backwards.

This site does not charge for anything. But most information is found at the county level. If you don't know the county, go to:

http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi

and it will find it for you.

Probably the best place to start is:

http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/

Genealogy is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together - only you have no picture and have to go find the pieces yourself. But, it is very rewarding when you do. You will find long lost relatives that you never knew you had.

Good luck on your searching.

Sue
