Hi Allen,

While researching for my grandparents, I found a July 1937 photo of my grandfather, Joseph Benjamin Houston, with 2 friends, George F. Ala and John H. Ala of Bates of Summit City, Bates County, Missouri.

I have enclosed 2 pix, front and back.
(well, this crazy web site won't let me forward the pix, I'll have to e-mail them to you).

Hope this helps.

Hi George (West) Ross
I was wondering if you would be able to email that same picture to me as I am related to both of these gentlemen. My name is Forrest Pettengill and John Henry Ala was my mother's grandfather. If you would be so kind, I would appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time.
My email is 3735914@comcast.net. Thanks so much!

take care
Forrest

Hi George,
I don't know if I could afford to go see Bill, that would be cool, but as it is I am on a limited income. But phoning him again would be possible.
I actually got ALL those pictures that you see of the Ala's from my mom. I posted them to the Houston-Grass website and they posted them the their site as added photos. My mom gave me Bill's and his other living brother's phone #. When I called the other he had no clue, but Bill did have some info. I did find out that Elizabeth died of consumption as well. I inquired about Iowa to one genealogist but not sure which county...when I went to the Iowa-Genweb website. But no luck....for some reason I had reason to believe she was born in Polk, Iowa. I haven't research Green County and only recently found out that she may had died in that vicinity.

There was quite a bit of info on that Houston-Grass website, and I did get confused as to some of the info related to Elizabeth Luella...not sure exactly at this point.

I then researched so many of the Stewart/Stuart lines and found some Elizabeth's but not exactly Elizabeth Luella - so I am not sure if the birthday was off or the name was different but couldn't make a solid connection when looking forward after her to find her parent's info....and go backwards. This is the only way I can see us finding any info on she is to look to her possible maiden name and look for her parents to try to match them up, maybe that's where Polk, Iowa came into play with my research.

I dunno. But I am still interested in finding her line.

Thanks for your time George....

Forrest

PS. if this gets sent, it's because I had to send it through this thread as if wouldn't get sent through our other posting George....
