I am trying to trace the relations of Martin Andrew Sharp (Hume)
He was an author ,born London 8th December 1843 was the second son of William Lacy Sharp of East India Co and married Louisa Charlotte Hume in 1840.
A branch of his mothers family had settled in Madrid Spain towards the end of the 18th Century. The last of the Spanish Humes a lady advanced in years died in 1876 bequeathing her property to Martin Sharp, and in August 1877 in compliance with her wish, he assumed the name of Hume.
If anyone has any knowledge of the Spanish – Hume side of this family I would be very grateful.
Hi Robert,

Try this website-someone may be able to answer your question. www.spainexpat.com/spain/forum/viewthread/4271/. Another thought, contact your state department, they could probably help too.

When was your father stationed at Torrejon AB? I was stationed there from 1979 to 1981.

Christina Morton-Scott

Hi Rocio Gonzales Muradas,

Thank you for your replay to my searching. I don't know if your grandfather is related with my grandfather but here some information that may be can help. My Grandfather Manuel Muradas was born in Vigo on November 2 1892, and later on his family moved to Madrid. He was a son of Jose Muradas Pietro and Estrela Muradas. They also had 2 daughters but I don't know their names. And also they had another son named Alberto and he died when he was 7 years old. My grandfather went to Brazil around the years of 1912 and 1913. One of the things that I most want is to find some relatives in Spain, may be cousins, or great-uncles. I really appreciate your replay and please let me know if you find anything else.

thank you,
Conceicao
.
Seeking official birth, death and/or marriage data on Pilar Sanchez Jimenez, who is known to have been a resident at: C Ayala # 59, Madrid, Spain, in early 1960's.
.
Anecdotal information relayed from her American brother in law in that era, suggested that she may have perished from pnuemonia circa 1963.
.
However, the credibility of that information has always been suspect.
.
Any information / assistance in this matter would be sincerely appreciated.
.
Please reply directly to "Jack" via email at: Torrejon1962@hotmail.com
.

Researching CARRIONS from MADRID

I am looking for any information on some Carrions from Madrid, Spain. This is what I know:

My grandmother’s name was Vicenta Carrion. She was born on December 15, 1903 in Madrid and was baptized at La Virgen del Puerto church, also in Madrid. Her parents were Pedro Carrion (b Abt 1875 in Cordoba, Spain) and Rosario Juarez (b 1879 in Madrid). Pedro and Rosario were married at La Virgen del Puerto (date unknown).

Vicenta’s siblings were Elena (b 1900, Madrid), Pedro (b 1905, Madrid), and Rosario (b after 1905, Philadelphia or New York). Rosario (mother) and her three oldest children (Elena, Pedro, and Vicenta) immigrated to the U.S. on the Konigin Luise, which departed from the Port of Gibraltar, Spain, headed for the Port of New York, USA, on October 18, 1906.

In 1924, Vicenta married Gustave Beniamino in New York. Around the 1950s or 60s, they moved with their three children to Southern California.

Any information on any member of this family is most appreciated.

Ariel Blondet

7-25-2002

Looking for a copy of the last will and testament of Mr. Manfred Karl Skuhr (who died between 1997-1999 in Gran Canaria) and his wife/partner, Ursula Skuhr (who died there not long after Manfred). I am trying to find out the name of the lawyer/executor who handled his estate and names of the beneficiaries. Will also need to find out if they owned any property in that area--that information will be in the probate file and also need the name of the government or city agency to check that handles the land records, and also need the name and address of the courthouse where to get the probate records.

I am helping Manfred's son acquire this information for his own personal use.

Will pay a reasonable fee for a genealogist or citizen to get the information.
Anyone connect? Jose Pedro CUEVAS was born in 1863.
I'd like to know where to write to get exact birthdate and documentation.

A letter I just received from my cousin Thomas Potts' wife Enid follows:

It is written on March 24th, 1957 by Tom's Mother, Florence Emily Cuevas Potts, to us on the occasion of our first wedding anniversary. We had written to her asking about her family and this is what she wrote: (quoted exactly as written)

"I will look up our baby book but I don't know much about my Father's people except he was born in Madrid Spain. His father was in Paris connected with the Spanish Consul there for ten years and then he was a translator of languages for Werthiemer Lee & Son, a Publishing house in London, England. He spoke seven languages and was a very cultured old gentleman. We all loved him. His name was Victor Emanuel de Cuevas. My father's name was Jose Pedro Gustiase de Cuevas and he was a civil engineer.

Granmere Cuevas' name was Carman, but I don't know her maiden name. I am almost sure it was Gustiase as a spanish married woman retains her maiden name which precedes her husband's (after his death it succeeds it). The children retain both, hence the Gustiase de Cuevas in my father's name.
